ACTIVITIES:
At
Zamora Academia, learning in the classroom is only half of your
education. We offer a variety of activities outside of classes
to help students practice their Spanish and learn more about
our culture:
Get
to Know Guatemala
- an activity prepared by the school to give students insight
into the country and Guatemalan culture
- Dance
lessons (salsa and merengue)
- Movies
in Spanish
- Round
Table Discussions (focusing on current events in Guatemala)
- Local
Tours - museums, coffee and macadamia nut plantations, social
projects, nearby towns, etc.
- Athletic
activities
- And
many more...
After
classes and on weekends, Zamora Academia students explore Antigua's
restaurants, movies, internet cafes, fitness center, bars, lecture
series, etc on foot or by bicycle. In addition, students can
take pottery classes, play tennis or learn to dance. Tour operators
run a variety of single- and multi-day trips to attractions like
the Mayan ruins in Tikal, artisan cooperatives, diving in Lake
Atitlan, and the beaches of Belize.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Complete cultural immersion,
in addition to one-on-one classes, encourages students to practice
their newfound language skills at every turn. For optimal progress,
we recommend that students lodge with a host family while in
Antigua. We have known all of our host families for years and
guarantee that students will be comfortable, safe and encouraged
to practice their Spanish skills with the family. Host families
will provide three meals a day and can accommodate vegetarian
diets.
For your convenience,
all host family housing is within walking distance of the school,
internet cafes, movies, banks and all of the entertainment that
Antigua has to offer.
If you have any special
requests, don't hesitate to ask when you make your reservation.
Our host families have been doing this a long time and are happy
to provide whatever services they can.
The cost of a homestay,
including meals, is $70 per week.
